Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.

In an effort to reduce classroom waste, all classroom information will now be available at this site. I will add content that is relevant to what we are doing in class, or websites that might be of interest to you and your child. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail or call (519) 352-8252.

End of Year Information

We are finishing up a number of units of study in the next week.  Looking for rotations and reflections in patterns at home and in the community will help solidify the skills we are learning in Geometry and Spatial Sense.  We are also exploring measurement of volume and capacity.

Our presentations should be finished on Friday June 12 and rubrics will come home on Monday.  Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  Report cards go home the last week of school.

In the next week I will post a variety of activities and links to keep your child busy for the summer.  Please remember that great activities to maintain skills over the break include: journaling in both languages, reading writing aloud to ensure appropriate sentence structure and syntax, practicing math facts, logic and reasoning puzzles, reading fiction and non-fiction, word games including cross-word puzzles, sudoku, etc.

Don't forget that if your child needs extra practice in mathematics there is always the Nelson website at http://www.nelson.com/nelson/school/elementary/mathK8/math4/default.html  There are a variety of activities that are consistent with the program we use at school as well as additional website and games for your child and help for you.

Here are some strategies and ideas to help you help your child with reading comprehension at home.

Check out the new Eagles Online Newspaper.  Students have worked on articles and the paper has been published online.  New articles and information will be published on an ongoing basis.

We are learning to type as part of our computer program in grade 4.  If your child would like to practice at home, the website from BBC Dance Mat Typing is an excellent resource to help your child with their typing skills.  Thank you Nazanin for the great link!

Please remember to send a "pull-top" water bottle to school for your child.  This allows them to have water at their desk anytime they need it.  Reminder: All students need a pair of indoor shoes (non-marking) and a pair of outdoor running shoes. Crocs and sandals are dangerous for high-intensity DQPE and Phys.Ed. activities. Students participate in DQPE or Phys.Ed. every day.

Don't forget - you can search for titles at the CK Library on-line!  http://www.chatham-kent.ca/ckat/
